Commissary is near my dentist's office. I arrived early for my appointment so I decided to wait for my appointment at Commissary.
I scored one of the 3 corner tables.
I ordered a Flat White. Commissary uses coffee beans from Water Avenue Coffee (Water Avenue Coffee serves my favorite version of Latte in PDX).
The Flat White was excellent. Perfect proportion of expresso to steam milk that I expected. The coffee today was a medium roast (better to appreciate the flavor nuances the coffee beans have to offer)
The cup of Flat White was served with a small Chocolate cookie- just like in Europe (a nice touch).
Sound level is better than in most coffee shops.
I enjoyed my experience at Commissary. I think I'm going to deliberately arrive early in the area for my dental appointment in the future so that ghatI can partake more.
Service was fast, friendly and efficient. -

I like this place, cozy and look a courtyard through the window, it was perfect mobile office for me when I used to work for myself.
My coworker recommended to try their wrap (breakfast Britto) listed under their brunch menu, it sounded good but ended up getting their biscuits sandwich which was listed under "light", but it fed me very well. Filled with scramble egg and I got arugula on mine but you could add asparagus, onion, spinach for vegetarian, or bacon for meat eater!
They also have quiche for weekend, and definitely will try their wrap next time.
They also opened a new location by my house, so I could try their new location. -

Cute place. It's great for a casual conversation or to get some work done.
The shop is pretty small. There aren't too many seats, and the menu is relatively smaller than that of other cafes. However, it doesn't feel crammed. The ceiling is very high and the natural lighting gives a very spacious feel. If you're going in as a group, I would recommend a party size of 4 or less. -

The "lights" are great: biscuit, protein, jam, and vegetable topping. Delicious coffee. Nice interior.
They also have lots of games for the kids - like Chutes and Ladders, Battleship, and Guess Who. -

07/06/19: 4.5 out of 5 - It's been awhile since I was last here, but I've been experiencing Commissary since it first opened. I usually come here with some of the people in my running group.
I've tried a lot on the menu, but I tend to order the 'Lights' biscuit sandwich with sausage. Quiches are typically good, but the Biscuits and Gravy with Mushroom is typically fantastic!
The service today was very good, despite the place being busy.
Commissary is just an amazing little eatery with big flavors. The Commissary pulls this minimalist chic look with an old cinematic production theme to it, and yet, it is quite a simple layout.
Definitely in my top 3 of places that I would want to sit, eat, sip coffee, and enjoy my time there.
If you're in NW Portland, I would highly suggest coming in, try out what's on the menu, and decide for yourself. I know my running group and I will keep coming back.
Enjoy!
